Manchester City thrashed Stoke at the Etihad in the first Premier League fixture after the international break.
Following the drab draw served up by their title rivals, Pep Guardiola's men showed exactly why they are the early leaders with three wonderful goals before half an hour had passed.
Two moments of complacency either side of half time put Stoke and their 16 per cent possession right back in the game, but two assists from the sublime Kevin De Bruyne helped restore City's supremacy as they produced yet another goalfeast at the Etihad.
Bernardo Silva completed the scoring and was one of six on the teamsheet alongside Gabriel Jesus (2), Raheem Sterling, David Silva, Fernandinho and Leroy Sane.
With the game won, Guardiola could afford to take Jesus and De Bruyne off early as he plans for Tuesday's Champions League tie with Napoli.
