Is the Police IG Now A Politician?
Perhaps this is the first time Nigeria will be having an Inspector General of Police who seems more interested in fraternizing with the Presidency rather than respecting the Constitution of Nigeria. These days police men go out of their way to insult and assault Professors (ASUU) and even state Governors, with impunity.
Once you are opposed to President Goodluck Jonathan, your liberty is now subject to the interpretation of the Nigeria Police under the leadership of MD Abubakar. Not even the Senate can caution him.
Is this IGP Abubakar suppose to be loyal to Jonathan or the Constitution?

Taraba House Speaker, Haruna Tsokwa, slumps and dies
The Speaker of Taraba State House of Assembly, Haruna Tsokwa, slumped in the early hours of this morning November 4th in his house and was rushed to the hospital where he was declared dead.
The late Speaker was one of the lawmakers in Taraba State who opposed Governor Danbaba Suntai's resumption of work in the state after his foreign medical treatment because of his frail state of health.
Tsokwa was attacked in September by unknown gunmen along the Akwanga-Keffi Road in Nasarawa State. The gunmen killed one of his aides but Tsokwa survived the attack.
Tsokwa is said to have been battling with some heart-related ailments before he suddenly slumped and died this morning. May his soul rest in peace. Amen.

255m Car Scandal: Melaye Arrested Again Over Abuja Protest
Less than two weeks after leading protesters to Eagle Square, Abuja over the N255m bullet-proof car scandal involving the Minister of Aviation, Ms Stella Oduah, the Executive Secretary of Anti-Corruption Network, Mr. Dino Melaye, was on Monday arrested by security operatives.
As of the press time the exact reason for his arrest was not immediately known. It was reported to the journalists that the ex-lawmaker had been whisked to the Federal Capital Territory Police Command by a Special Team, led by one Patrick Ejoh, an Assistant Superintendent of Police.
According to the information provided, the police officers arrived at Melaye’s office at about 5.20pm. They had a warrant of arrest for alleged “criminal intimidation and threat to life.”
A copy of the warrant was sent to Punch correspondent by e-mail, and it can be derived from the document that Melaye may be arraigned on Tuesday at a Magistrate’s Court.
Just before following the police representatives, Melaye told the journalists that two officers had come to detain him.
Commenting on the charge of “criminal intimidation and threat to life” he said:
"They did not tell me who I intimidated and threatened."
“There are two ASPs here, one of them is Patrick Ejoh. They said they were taking me to FCT state command.”
Progressive Govs Forum statement on police invasion of G7 meeting
Yesterday, the DPO of Asokoro police division, CSP Nnanna Ama, invaded the meeting of the G7 governors at the Kano government lodge in Asokoro, Abuja. The Progressive Governors Forum have released a statement condemning the incident. Their statement below...
Nigerian Police: Now Armed Wing of PDPThe Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) hereby registers its dismay that for the second weekend in a row, officers of the Nigeria Police illegally stormed and disrupted a meeting by seven governors and other Nigerians going about their constitutionally guaranteed rights of association. The police action is not only alarming but also demonstrates clearly that the force, instead of carrying out its constitutional responsibilities of maintaining peace and order in the society has become no more than the armed wing of the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Coming barely a week after storming the Adamawa State Governor’s Lodge in Abuja to disrupt a lawful meeting of like-minded individuals, and despite public outcry at the tactics of the police, the Force, in clear violation of all rules of civility still went ahead to disrupt a G7 caucus meeting at the Kano State Governor’s Lodge on the 3rd November, 2013, in Asokoro, Abuja.
If the Nigeria Police has not become the armed wing of the PDP, why should the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Asokoro Police Unit, CSP NnannaAma, burst into the venue and order the meeting stopped, threatening to mobilize troops to abort it if his order was not obeyed?
For a DPO to have the impudence to force his way into the meeting of perceived opponents of President Goodluck Jonathan to disrupt meeting of governors and members of the Senate and the House of Representatives that were duly elected by Nigerians, and also threaten them with arrest can only indicate that the orders must have come from the Presidency. But for the police to carry out what is evidently an illegal order reflects a new low in the history of the Nigerian police.
The PGF hereby condemns in totality the antics of the Nigeria police in breaking up peaceful meetings and harassing Nigerians, while also calling for a probe into the PDP – Nigeria Police relations. Is the police established and paid to serve all Nigerians or merely to serve the interests of the PDP? If the police have become the armed wing of the PDP, then what differentiates it from the terror tactics of those who seek to violently impose their political beliefs on others?
The PGF salutes the resilience, tenacity and patriotic commitments of the G7 Governors and all leaders of the New PDP calls on them to continue the fight to rescue Nigeria from the grip of a tiny clique that has cornered the political space in Nigeria and now regards the rights and commonwealth of Nigerians as disposable in their desperation to continue in office despite growing unrest in the polity occasioned by PDP’s politics of poverty exclusion. We wish to emphatically restate our resolve to join hands ad work with our colleagues in G7 and New PDP to ensure that the current regressive trend towards authoritarianism, increasing poverty, unemployment and incompetent leadership is arrested.
The PGF also restates its position that another four years of the PDP and the current administration will spell doom for Nigeria and its over 170 million people, thus our determination to rescue Nigeria and provide security and prosperity for Nigerians.

Solar eclipse viewed in Nigerian cities, Nigerians react
A rare solar eclipse swept through parts of Africa, the Middle East and America yesterday. It was viewed in many Nigerian cities, including Lagos, Abuja, Jos, the Plateau State capital and Calabar, Cross River State, among others.
In the eclipse, the sun is totally or partially blocked by the moon.
The full eclipse is a “hybrid” eclipse. A normal solar eclipse involves the moon blocking the sun completely. The moon’s area will also briefly be reduced, revealing “sun rings”. This is called an “annular eclipse”. Hybrid eclipses are among the rarest in the world – accounting for only 4.8% of eclipses recorded.
The full eclipse was viewed in some areas of West Africa and a number of islands in the Atlantic. There, the eclipse proceeded first, with the moon entirely covering the sun. Then, the shadowed area gradually reduced, revealing sun rings. Finally, the moon continued until the sun was again consigned completely to the shade.
Only a partial eclipse was witnessed in Nigeria.
Some Lagos and Abuja residents expressed both excitement and disappointment over the partial eclipse.
Reports from parts of the metropolis showed that while most were expecting a total eclipse, many were still excited over the partial eclipse.
NigerianEYE spoke with some of the residents of Egbeda, Command Road, Agege and Oke-Aro – all on the outskirt of Lagos around 2:00PM yesterday afternoon, and they said that they had not expected a partial eclipse, but were excited that they could see changes in the sun.
A resident of Egbeda, Mrs Titi Francis, told NE that at about 1.10 p.m., the weather became dark.
“Around 1.10p.m., I noticed that the cloud became dark as if it was about to rain. I did not really see it like an eclipse, but I am excited about it because I heard it was really total in some places,’’ she said.
A supermarket owner at Iju Road, Agege, Mr Patrick Bada, said what he saw was below his expectation.
“When I read the news about the eclipse on Thursday, I was waiting to experience it today. I waited to see it, but it was just dark and cloudy, nothing extraordinary.
“I had wanted to show my three-year-old grandson how an eclipse looks like, but I am still happy it was partial,” Bada said.
The partial eclipse was witnessed at around 2:37 pm in some parts of Abuja.
It lasted almost an hour around Sun City in Lugbe. The experience was as if it would rain as the eclipse occurred.
Other residents in areas such as Gwagwalada, Lugbe, Kabusa, Kubwa and Sun City experienced it.
However, some residents, who patiently waited to see the eclipse, were a bit disappointed. They claimed they never witnessed any view.
Kehinde Adeniyi alleged he did not experience any eclipse. He said the federal government through the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASDRA) had procured special glasses for those who desired to view it.
Some said viewing the eclipse with natural eye might damage the eye. Others advised it should be viewed through a bucket of water, positioned directly towards the sky.
Adeniyi said: “I am highly disappointed. And you know how many millions they have spent on the procurement of those special glasses because we are not expected to view it casually.”
Below are some randomly selected responses.

CRAZY! : 10 Crazy Ways To Die If You Are Unlucky (Or Stupid)
Have you ever wondered how you will die? I have. Human life is really fragile, and we should be thankful for every day we wake up to see the sunshine. I suppose if I had a choice, I would want to die in my sleep. That seems like the most peaceful way to go.
When I saw these pictures, I couldn’t resist sharing them with you. I bet people who die from a vending machine, a roller coaster, falling out of bed or shopping on Black Friday never saw it coming. You gotta think that people who text and drive know better though. I mean, I can understand being surprised to die from attending a football game, but we all know how dangerous texting and driving is.
I know someone is thinking about leaving a comment asking me to provide a source for these statistics.
Oya na lets go there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
DO YOU KNOW THAT?
AFRICAN BEST : Yaya Toure the lone African on Fifa world player list
Ivory Coast
and Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure is the sole African player on the the
23-man shortlist for the Fifa men's world
footballer of the year award.
It is indicative of the state of African football - and the lack of
achievement by African teams. At recent World Cups, particularly in South African in 2010 - where there were six African sides in the tournament and only Ghana got past the first round - teams from the continent have failed to deliver.
And it has fuelled the perception that African football has a long way to go to be considered to be at the highest level.
Then add to the mix the fact that really big recent superstars of African football - such as Didier Drogba, Samuel Eto'o and Michael Essien - have all passed their prime, are not playing as much football, nor winning as often, as they used to.
FANTASTIC: Lille 2-0 Monaco: Inspired Enyeama helps hosts to victory
LOSC keeper Vincent Enyeama produced a sensational performance in goal for the hosts as he kept out Radamel Falcao and his team-mates time and again, with a double from Nolan Roux proving enough to secure the points for Rene Girard's men.
The result sees Rene Girard's men leapfrog their opponents in the table and sees them stake a claim as genuine contenders in the French title race.
Nolan Roux put the hosts in front midway through the first half when he kneed home from Marko Basa's knock down from after the central defender connected with Florent Belmont's corner.
Claudio Ranieri's side dominated for large chunks of proceedings but couldn't find a way past an inspired Enyeama in les Dogues' goal and Lille hit their opponents on the counter in the second period as Salomon Kalou and Rio Mavuba combined to set up Roux for his second to seal the victory.
The principality outfit continued to search for a way back into the game but an incredible late double-stop from Enyeama to deny Radamel Falcao and Emmanuel Riviere typified the visitors as they were condemned to their first league defeat of the season.
After the game, Riviere paid tribute to the Lille shot-stopper and admitted his side hadn't done enough to merit the points.
"It was a tough game and we had a bad first half," conceded the striker when he spoke to Canal+after the full-time whistle.
"Respect to the goalkeeper who has made some fantastic saves in the second half. LOSC deserve their victory. We now need to keep our heads up and work harder."

Nigeria pay coach Keshi part of his outstanding salary
The Nigeria
Football Federation (NFF) has paid coach Stephen Keshi part of the seven months'
salary he is owed.
Keshi, who is owed more than $217,000,(N32,550,000 naira) last week described the
situation as "disrespectful and unacceptable". It led to the Nigeria Sports Commission (NSC) querying the NFF about the issue.
NFF spokesman Ademola Olajire told BBC Sport: "We have made a quick effort to sort part of his arrears. We are working extremely hard to pay the coach the rest as soon as possible."
Olajire added that the NFF had put in measures to "help minimise the risk of delays in the future".
"The financial situation of the NFF caused the delay. It is not an excuse; it is a consequence of the financial reality," he said.
It is understood that Keshi has received only two months' pay but the Super Eagles boss has declined to comment.
But one NFF official, who did want to be named, told BBC Sport: "It's just the first step in our desperate quest to sort all his outstanding salary arrears.
"We are hopeful this will be resolved before the end of the year."
Nigeria will face Ethiopia in Calabar on 16 November in the second leg of their 2014 World Cup play-off and are favourites to progress to next year's tournament in Brazil, having won the first leg 2-1.

I led the attacks in Yobe, and we killed 35 people - Boko Haram Leader, Shekau
Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau, said in a video released yesterday that he led an October 24 attack in which 35 people found in military uniforms were killed in Damaturu, the Yobe state capital..
“Look at what happened in Damaturu,” the head of the Islamist group said in the video obtained by French News Agency (AFP) through the same intermediary as previous clips.
“Since we killed them with our hands — in fact I was the commander of the operation — so, you cannot say I’m making conjecture,” he said.
The authenticity of the video clip — in which Shekau spoke for about 11 minutes in Arabic, Hausa and Kanuri — could not be independently confirmed.
“This is a brief message to the world. We carried out the Damaturu attacks with Allah’s help, with Allah’s might, with Allah’s glory and with victory from Allah, the Creator,” he said.
The video was titled “Battle of Damaturu” in Arabic.
Thirty-five bodies in military uniform were brought to a morgue after a coordinated assault by Boko Haram targeting the security forces, a hospital source had said.
The attack in Damaturu was the first significant raid in a major urban centre in several weeks by the insurgent group waging a four-year Islamist uprising.
Police and residents said large numbers of Boko Haram fighters, some in vehicles and some on foot, stormed Damaturu after dark.
Armed with guns and explosives, they attacked and torched four police buildings, sparking a fierce, hours-long gun battle with the security forces.
Contacted by AFP on October 28, Yobe state military spokesman Capt Lazarus Eli, did not deny reports that dozens of soldiers were killed during the clash
WICKEDNESS: 15 Year Old Virgin School Girl Brutally Gang-Molested To Coma In Lagos
A group of Four Hooligans lead by Oyedepo brutally rapéd and abandon victim in pool of blood.
Police operatives in Lagos have arrested three persons and declared one other wanted for allegedly gang ráping a girl to a state of coma. The young girl,
simply identified as Vivian, is battling with death in a private hospital in Ikorodu area of the state.
It was gathered that the 15-year-old secondary school girl had gone to collect lesson notes from her colleague, Tabiola.
Tabiola was alleged to have lured her to a place where three others were waiting to devour her virginity.
A police source said that as soon as Tabiola walked in with Vivian, the suspects locked her inside a room where they forcefully stripped her unclad.
According to the senior police officer, the girl was gang molested and was abandoned unconscious in the pool of her own blood.

The police officer, who gave the names of the three suspects as Yusuf, Rasheed, Oyedepo said, “When it dawned on the suspects that the girl was

“Anyway, as the case is, it will take the grace of God and good medical attention for the girl to survive and be normal again. Her pelvic, according to
doctor’s report, has been so battered. She was badly injured and she lost too much blood. More so, the girl was a virgin and was forcefully deflowered. I feel
for her because she is so devastated and psychologically traumatised.”
Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Ngozi Braide who confirmed
the story told Crime Watch that the victim is a Secondary school girl. “She was lured to the place where she was gang ráped by four men. She is presently recuperating in a private hospital.
