JUNGLE JUSTICE Again!- Chaos in Ogun as mob sets three kidnappers ablaze

Pandemonium broke out yesterday April 30th in Ijoko Ota in Ado-
Odo-Ota LGA of Ogun State around 9am when a mob set 3
suspected kidnappers ablaze after their victim, one Elizerbeth
Oduwole screamed for help.
Reports say the lady's scream attracted passersby who got hold
of the kidnappers, beat them to a pulp before setting them ablaze.
The vehicle they rode in was also set ablaze by the angry mob.
Confirming the incident, the Police PRO in the state, Muyiwa
Adejobi said the victim, 26year old Elizabeth who resides in Atan-
Ota had boarded a vehicle to Ewekoro but found herself in Gas
Line in Ijoko were she immediately screamed for help. Continue...
“She screamed from the vehicle in which she was being taken to
their den when she observed that she was in another place and
the people in the area blocked the vehicle, beat the occupants,
killed them and burnt them to ashes. The victim is being
interrogated; the suspects were burnt to ashes. We are going to
use multifaceted approach; we want to know if there had been an
interaction between the suspects and the victim. The jungle justice
affected our case. The people alerted us at the Headquarters
instead of calling the DPO in Ota, and immediately we asked the
DPO to move to the scene, but, before they got there, the suspects
had been killed and burnt to ashes. It was a heavy inferno; they
put tyres on the suspects and set them ablaze. We have
evacuated their ashes. We have taken over the matter; we are still
investigating the matter. We condemn jungle justice, people
should desist from this act”, the PPRO, said.
Meanwhile on Tuesday April 29th in Abeokuta, men of the state's
Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps rescued a middle aged
woman named Favor Okoye from being lynched by an angry
mob for allegedly kidnapping a baby at about 2.55pm along
Toroto street in Abeokuta.
In a statement released by the Public Relations Officer of the
NSCDC in the state, Olanrewaju Kareem, they were able to rescue
the woman after a taxi driver alerted his men of a woman who had
been beaten to a pulp and was in the pool of her blood
According to him, “a taxi driver alerted civil defence men keeping
vigil on critical infrastructures around Akin-olugbade/Pepsi/
Totoro areas that a woman has been attacked around Totoro and
was about to be killed. The men quickly raced to the scene to
rescue the woman but, all efforts and appeal by civil defence to
allow the suspected kidnapper face the consequence through the
legal process proved abortive as the mob insisted on killing the
woman.
“Because of this development, the civil defence officer called
office for reinforcement as a result of which armed men were
deployed to the scene.
“In spite of the fact that those civil defence men on ground were
able to take possession of the suspect and took her towards Akin-
olugbade area in order to get a vehicle to convey her to a safe
place, they were still followed and were all along resisting that the
woman should not be taken away.
“The situation became more violent when the armed men of civil
defence arrived. They threw available objects including bottles,
planks, stones among others, the mob though succeeded in
breaking the windscreen of civil defence vehicle but they were
able to rescue the woman from being killed.
“The woman who was in a state of coma as she could not talk
was immediately rushed to the Federal Medical Centre where she
is receiving treatment. She gained consciousness after one hour
after the first set of treatment had been administered on her.
“We therefore appeal to members of the public to always ensure
justice through legal means as jungle justice will make innocent
people to suffer”, he said.

breaking News- Another: Explosion hits Abuja near motor park blas

An explosion has hit the Nigerian capital, Abuja, near the scene of a deadly bomb attack last month.

The blast happened in Nyanya, close to the motor park where at least 70 people died in an attack on 14 April.

Initial reports say a number of people have been killed and many more have been injured.

Correspondents say it was caused by a car bomb. The Islamist militant group Boko Haram has previously staged attacks Abuja.

One eyewitness told the BBC he saw 20 bodies at the scene.

No group has claimed responsibility for the blast.

Campaign of violence
Most of Boko Haram's attacks have been in the north-east of Nigeria.

But the bombing on 14 April raised fears that the militants could be trying to expand their area of operation.

The BBC's Will Ross in says the latest blast comes at a terrible time for Nigeria, which is also dealing with the the abduction of 230 schoolgirls that happened hours after the previous Nyanya attack.

Boko Haram's fighters have killed more than 1,500 civilians in three states in north-east Nigeria this year.

It has hit Abuja several times before, including an attack on the United Nations building in 2011.

But before 14 April, there had not been an attack in the capital for two years, our correspondent says.

The Nigerian government had said the violence was contained in a small area of the north-east.

Boko Haram, whose name means "Western education is forbidden" in the local Hausa language, has been waging a campaign of gun and bomb attacks since 2009

TRAGEDY-14yr old girl kills another 14yr old girl after Facebook fight over a boy

14 year old Endia Martin (pictured above) was killed on Monday
April 28th by another 14 year old girl after they argued on
Facebook about a boy. Is this what 14 year olds should be doing?
Fighting over boys and killing each other? My goodness!
According to Chicago Times, the handgun used to kill Endia Martin
had been brought to the scene by someone who knew the suspect
and knew 'there was going to be a fight' Chicago police said
"What would have been, under any other circumstance,
probably a fistfight between 14-year-old girls, because they
were fighting over a boy, turned into a murder. You introduce
a firearm and you have a murder." The police said
Endia was walking home from school when the other girl
approached, pulled the gun and opened fire around 4:30 p.m on
Monday in West Garfield Boulevard, Chicago, according to police.
Endia was hit in the back and killed instantly.
The 14 year old girl has been charged as a juvenile with murder,
while her 24-year-old uncle and a 17-year-old boy are also
facing charges. The two are being held for giving the gun to the
killer.

Chibok schoolgirls 'alive' & deal is 'within reach' - hostage negotiator claims

Found this report a foreign site, Channel4.com . Read below..
A hostage negotiator in direct contact with the kidnappers of
more than 200 schoolgirls in Nigeria tells Channel 4 News
their safe release is "within reach", but that their fate rests
on a knife-edge.
The girls, we believe, are alive but they have been moved
from the location to which they were originally taken," the
intermediary told Channel 4 News. "It would not be hard to
engineer a deal. It looks like they want to release them."
The kidnappers have warned, however, that attempts by the
military to launch a rescue attempt "may result in the deaths
of many of the captives".
They want a way out," said the negotiator, who has long
experience of dealing directly with the Islamist group Boko Haram
in previous hostage crises.
Boko Haram translates as "western education is forbidden" and,
like the Taliban, the group opposes the education of Muslim girls,
particularly if that education has western influence.
Even though most of the kidnapped teenagers are from Christian
families, the intermediary says the group believes it has already
succeeded in embarrassing the government and instilling terror in
the civilian population.
Fate undecided
However splinter factions within the fractious group are
understood to be arguing over what to do with their hostages.
"The danger now is that the military will get involved and that can
only end badly," he said.
Past kidnappings by the al-Qaeda inspired jihadist group, which is
fighting for a strict sharia state in northern Nigeria, have ended
with the execution of hostages as a result of attempted military
intervention.
The hostage-takers have now been asked for a list of the girls'
names as proof-of-life. The negotiator - who wanted to remain
anonymous for reasons of personal security - said the group is
demanding a ransom but added: "we are hoping they will soften
their stance".
The Islamist insurgents abducted 273 girls, aged 16 to 18, from
dormitories at the Chibok Girls' Secondary School in Chibok,
Borno state, a fortnight ago. Around 40 girls reportedly escaped
early on. The numbers of those originally kidnapped - and those
still held captive - has been in dispute. Last week, the missing
girls' parents insisted that government figures had dramatically
underestimated the number held.
The school's headteacher, Mrs Asabe Kwambura, told Channel 4
News on Tuesday that a further 10 girls had since been
"recovered". "For now, the total number of girls we have recovered
is 53 while 220 girls are still missing," said Mrs Kwambura.
The abductors, who have been in intermittent contact with the
intermediary over the past 48 hours, claim to have released "a
number of hostages" because "they did shehada" - meaning
forcible conversion to Islam, a hallmark tactic of Boko Haram.
Channel 4 News has also established that the schoolgirls are not
being held in the group's notorious bush camps in the Sambisa
forest, an area 50 miles to the south east of the Borno state
capital, Maiduguri. This region has reportedly been the focus of
Nigerian military activity in recent days.
Instead, the hostages have, we understand, been split into smaller
separate groups, a number of whom have been taken close to - or
across - Nigeria's eastern border with Cameroon. This is an area
from which Mohammed Nur, one of Boko Haram's leading
commanders is known to operate.
"They have a problem," the intermediary said. "They have 220
captives and moving that many around cannot remain hidden.
There is good, reliable, local knowledge as to their location. The
military knows where they are."
The relocation of the teenage hostages has been corroborated by
a senior community leader in Chibok, the town from which they
were abducted. Dr Pogu Bitrus told Channel 4 News that he too
has learned that following the kidnapping, many of the girls were
forcibly converted and some then married off in neighbouring
Cameroon. He did not cite his sources.
"Many were taken to the northern part of Borno state and then
moved across into the Republic of Cameroon," he said. "After they
converted to Islam, they were forcibly married off with a bride
price of just 2,000 Naira [less than £10]." Dr Bitrus believes some
of the girls do still remain in Boko Haram camps in the Sambisa
forest. "The federal government must act fast" to avoid them
suffering the same fate, he added.

'Kill public officials who steals above N1million' – TUC president

President of the TUC, Bobboi Kaigama during a lecture at the
Faculty of Environmental Design and Management, Obafemi
Awolowo University, Ile-Ife yesterday, recommended the death
penalty for any public official who is indicted in any financial
crime above N1million.
During his lecture which was titled "‘Corruption and challenges in
nation-building’, Kaigama said tougher sanctions such as his
suggestion would make the government's crusade against
corruption more sincere
"If the governments and legislators are truly sincere about
the fight against corruption in the country, they must go
tougher. Any public official, whether at the state or federal
level, should be executed. Killing them after confirmation of
any embezzlement allegation of more than N1m will lead us
to the right path.
“I sincerely recommend an active process of legislation that
would support that. It would also serve the nation well to
have a law which not only provides for every public office
holder to declare his assets on assuming office, but also
stipulate that he must repeat the exercise each subsequent
year that he is in office and not later than one month after
vacating the office. Such declaration should be in at least
three newspapers and not just to the Code of Conduct
Bureau.” he said
He advocated for public officer's to be compelled to declare their
assets when they assume office as well as get banned from
occupying any political office if found guilty of any corruptible act.
Who agrees with him?

P-Square's publicist releases statement, says he never said it was all a publicity stunt

Yesterday P-Square's publicity Bayo Adetu was quoted as saying
the fight between the brothers was all a publicity stunt, and that
they all decided to play along. Well, after the backlash from fans,
Mr Adetu has backtracked and claims he never made those
comments. A statement he released below.
My attention has been drawn to one magazine interview
quoting me that the purported P-Square break-up tale was a
‘publicity stunt.’ It was indeed a misconception on the part
of the writer. I never said the rumour was a ‘publicity stunt.’
There is no way I could have granted an official interview
and speak in such denigrating manner as being portrayed by
the magazine in question.
I can remember talking to Star FM and NTA2, and it is on
record that I never spoke in such unprofessional manner!
Most importantly, I never said it was a ‘publicity stunt’
because that amounts to toying with the emotions of P-
Square fans. I cherish the fans more than Diamond and
therefore, I will never disrespect or toy with their emotions.
Thanks for your understanding.
Read the interview he supposedly granted to Icon magazine after
the cut...
Greetings, Bayo, we heard that the Okoye brotherS have finally
reconciled, can you give us an insight on what really happened?
After a long laugh… My brother, I’m telling you this as a friend,
there was no fight at all. The whole thing started after Jude
tweeted some days back and bloggers feasted on it and gave it
several interpretations which never existed, and that was how we
got here.
Are you saying there wasn’t a fight at all, how then did Peter and
Paul keep releasing comments through their Facebook accounts?
My guy, I can authoritatively tell you that neither of the P-Square
brothers, nor even Jude operate their Facebook accounts
anymore. Whatever Facebook posted was from an impersonator,
pretending to be anyone of them. P-Sqaure is active on twitter,
not on facebook, so you see, the whole thing was founded on lies.
If what you are saying is true, why did they all tweet a
reconciliatory tweet this morning indicating that they have
mended fences?
There’s one thing you should know, P-Square are not politicians,
neither are they businessmen to be worried about what one
useless blogger or the other has to say about them.
In this game, bad publicity is good publicity. When we read those
funny posts, we decided to play along with the general public and
what they were meant to believe.
Yesterday, Thursday, April 24, 2014 was Jude Okoye’s birthday
and he also used the opportunity to propose to his girlfriend while
we laughed at the stupidity of some Nigerian bloggers.
We later decided to further play into their hands by reaching a
consensus to tweet what they have termed the ‘reconciliation
tweet’.
However as a journalist, I am pained that trained journalists allow
themselves to be remoted by Linda Ikeji, a mere blogger without
any professional training to stall them from investigating serious
news material like this. These days, immediately Linda posts
anything on her blog, journalists just go there and copy and paste
the story without any checks and balances, it is outrightly wrong,
I’m really upset about this.
She called me after posting the story and I just decided to ignore
her calls, because I didn’t think we had anything more to say
when the milk has been split.
I have taken my time to explain to you this way because, you are
a friend and did not join the bandwagon.
As for those bloggers out there, I allowed them to write whatever
they like; after all, they are consuming their Internet data, not
mine

RIBADU WAS POISONED – OBASANJO

Erstwhile chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes
Commission, EFCC, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu was once poisoned in the
course of his duties as anti-corruption czar, former President
Olusegun Obasanjo has revealed.
Obasanjo, who spoke at an international forum on 3rd Tana High
Level Forum on Security in Africa in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia,
yesterday, also disclosed that Ribadu created enemies for him
because of the ruthlessness with which he carried out his
responsibilities of tackling corruption in Nigeria.
Obasanjo, who spoke from the floor following a presentation on
Illicit Financial Flow and Governance of Natural Resources made
by Ribadu, affirmed that he had known from experience that the
fight against corruption attracts a lot of enemies.
The former President declared that he has no fear of anyone still
living in Nigeria, adding “it is rather them that fear me.”
Saying that Ribadu took on a lot of highly connected persons in his
fight against corruption, Obasanjo said that the former anti-
corruption chief was once poisoned, causing a scare among
concerned quarters.
“It was a matter of life and death,” the former president said,
though further details of the incidence were not given.
Obasanjo said that once Ribadu was appointed, he gave him a free
hand and that Ribadu investigated him, his late wife and several
persons close to him at that time.

Luis Suarez named PFA Player of the Year

The Uruguayan frontman, who leads the top flight's scoring
charts with 30 goals, becomes only the second Liverpool
player in the Premier League era to win the award
Apr 27, 2014 11:53:00 PM
Liverpool striker and Premier League
top scorer Luis Suarez has been
named the PFA Player of the Year.
The Uruguay international has netted
30 league goals this season to lead
the division's scoring charts and fire
Liverpool towards what could be a first league title in 24 years.
With two games remaining this term, Suarez still has the chance to
equal, or even better, Cristiano Ronaldo and Alan Shearer's joint
record of 31 goals in a 38-game season.
In addition to his monumental goal haul, the former Ajax frontman
has registered 12 assists – the most in the Premier League.
Suarez's award cements an incredible turnaround in affection for the
27-year-old, who was booed on two occasions during last year's
PFA ceremony.
He began the campaign by serving the remainder of a 10-game
suspension for biting Chelsea's Branislav Ivanovic, which followed a
race row involving Manchester United's Patrice Evra that also
produced a lengthy ban.
But Suarez has put past controversies firmly behind him to light up
English football and become only the second Liverpool player to be
crowned Player of the Year in the Premier League era.

Neymar- We are all monkeys

Barcelona attacker Neymar has vowed
to fight racist abuse after team-mate
Dani Alves had a banana thrown at
him during the 3-2 win over Villarreal
on Sunday.
The Brazilian full-back dealt with the
incident in good humour, picking up the banana and eating it, but his
compatriot took to Instagram to voice his disgust at the abuse.
"We are all equal, we are all monkeys, say no to racism," he wrote on
the social media site, accompanied with the hashtag
#weareallmonkeys.
"It's a shame that there's such prejudice in 2014. It's time for people
to raise their voices. My way of expressing my support is to do what
Dani Alves did.
"If you think so too, take a picture of yourself eating a banana and we
will use what they have against us to our advantage."
